we had a heated debate in chinese class about whether the sun is nearest to us in the morning or in the afternoon. argument 1: in the morning, the sun looks larger, and nearer objects are larger, hence the sun is closest in the morning. argument 2: in the afternoon, the sun is hotter, and hotter objects are closer, hence minimum distance between the sun and us occurs in the afternoon.
